WORKSHOPS

Term 2, 2011

Week 1, 21/5/2011, Code of Conduct / Rules
Objective: Players to have a good understanding of the Program (the workshop component, basketball, dinner and transport), the people involved (volunteers, tournament manager, youth worker) and to come up with their own rules / code of conduct to take ownership. Also learn the importance of team work and get to know each other and work together as a team.

Week 2, 28/5/2011, Team Building
Objective: Learn how to cooperate effectively and respect one another, create team names and develop a positive rapport among peers.

Week 3, 4/6/2011, Multi Media and Design
Objective: Increase alternative education avenues and interest in arts and media. Consider effects of binge drinking and effective ways to reach youth on dangers.

Week 4, 11/6/2011, Cooking and Nutrition
Objective:  Healthy eating is cheaper; Eat more fruit and veg; What should be eaten most and least; The healthy food pyramid; Reading recipes/food safety.

Week 5, 18/6/2011, Inspirational Speaker
Objective: Inspire learning and self belief. Even when faced with adversity you can achieve great things and in fact it can make you stronger.

Objective: Learn while having fun.

Objective:  All players to complete questionnaire provided by Midnight Basketball Australia for independent evaluation.

Objective: Drug prevention presentation to increase awareness of the negative effects of drugs.

Objective: Building relationships, teamwork and learn drumming skills.

Week 4, 13/11/2010, Capoeria
Objective: Players learn the importance of team work, along with dance, rhythm, socialisation, breaking down barriers.

Objective:  Players learn about rail safety awareness along with identifying dangerous behaviour. Create a better understanding of life after a dangerous risk that results in serious injury.

Objective:  Increase player awareness of healthy options and learn cooking skills in a fun interactive environment.

Objective:  Educate the players on different theories of science through new and exciting demonstrations and gear from scitech

Week 8, 11/12/2010, Player Evaluation / Questionnaire
Objective:  All players to complete questionnaire provided by Midnight Basketball Australia for independent evaluation by CIRCA Research for final tournament report.
