WORKSHOPS, Bathurst (2009)


Week 1, 07/02/09, Code of Conduct / Rules
Objective: Players to have a good understanding of the Program (the workshop component, basketball, dinner and transport), the people involved (volunteers, tournament manager, youth worker) and to come up with their own rules / code of conduct to take ownership.

Week 2, 14/02/2009, Team Building
Objective: Players to learn the importance of team work.  Get to know each other.  Come up with team name.  Aboriginal games.

Week 3, 21/02/2009, Financial Management
Objective:  Teach the basic skills on the importance of money management.  Discuss PIN security, bank fees and budgeting.

Week 4, 07/03/2009, Positive Communication
Objective:  Learn effective communication and how to say 'no'.

Week 5, 14/03/2009, Rights and Responsibilities
Objective: Respect for others rights and understanding your own responsibilities.  Presentation by Juvenile Justice.

Week 6, 21/03/2009, Health Services
Objective: Presentation by Community Health - what services are provided in the area and where they are.

Week 7, 28/03/2009, Mental Health
Objective: Understand mental health issues facing youth today and where you can go for help.

Week 8, 04/04/2009, Player Evaluation / Questionnaire
Objective:  All players to complete questionnaire provided by Midnight Basketball Australia for independent evaluation by CIRCA Research for final tournament report.
