Overview of Workshops, Kwinana (Term 4 2009)

Week 1, Code of Conduct / Rules
Outline: Provide players with an overview of Midnight Basketball, how it runs, 'No Workshop, No Jumpshot', general housekeeping, rules. Players to have a good understanding of the Program (the workshop component, basketball, dinner and transport), the people involved (volunteers, tournament manager, youth worker) and to come up with their own rules / code of conduct to take ownership.

Week 2, Team Building
Outline: Assist players in developing their teams. Provide players with an opportunity to meet players in their teams & build team skills & meet proffessional athletes & engage with positive role models.

Week 3, Basketball Drills & Skills
Outline: Assist players in developing their besketball skills. Provide players with an opportunity to further develop their basketball skills& meet proffessional athletes & engage with positive role models .

Week 4, Drug and Alcohol
Outline: Provide players with an overview of alcohol & cannabis. Provide players with an understanding of the short & long term effects of Alcohol & Cannabis, strategies to assist with minimisng harm & identification of support services available in the community.

Week 5, Nutrition & Health
Outline: Provide players with an overview of healthy eating habits. Provide players with an understanding nutrition and healthy eating habits.

Week 6, Sexual Health
Outline: Provide players with an overview of sexual health issues. Provide players with an understanding sexual health issues including STI's, availability of contraception, safe sex messages & identification of support services available in the community.

Week 7, Mental Health
Outline: Provide players with an overview of mental health. Provide players with an understanding of mental health, strategies to deal with stress, anxiety & depression & identification of support services available in the community Facilitators: Youth Reach South

Week 8, Grand Final Night
Player Evaluation/Questionnaire
Outline: Player questionnaire All players to complete questionnaire provided by Midnight Basketball Australia for independent evaluation by CIRCA Research for final tournament report.
