TERM 3, 2011

Week 1, 13/8/2011, Code of Conduct / Rules
Objective: Players to have a good understanding of the Program (the workshop component, basketball, dinner and transport), the people involved (volunteers, tournament manager, youth worker) and to come up with their own rules / code of conduct to take ownership.

Week 2, 20/8/2011, Safe Partying, Alcohol And Other Drugs
Objective: Provide players with information about paryting safely and being responsible about the choices they make.

Week 3, 27/8/2011, Goal Setting
Objective: Understanding SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely) goals and why goal setting as an individual and as a team is important.

Week 4, 3/9/2011, Cyber Bullying
Objective: What goes online, stays online - Understanding the long term effects of cyber bullying, texting and bystander bullying.

Objective: Assisting youth to understand the healthy choices they can make, and how their choices can lead to feeling healthier and having more energy to do the things they enjoy.

Objective: Being able to recognise when anger or stress is getting out of control and what can be done about it.

Week 7, 24/9/2011, The Importance Of Me And My Future
Objective: Participants will gain a better understanding of their personality type, their life motivators, and interest and how this may impact on their current learning situation and future career paths.

Objective:  All players to complete questionnaire provided by Midnight Basketball Australia for independent evaluation.

Objective: Learn how to work together and respect each other. To learn how to use negotiating skills to improve their general communication. Players will also learn the benefits of planning.

Week 3, 12/3/2011, Spotlight on Cyber Bullying
Objective: To learn about the effects of cyber bullying on you and how to deal with cyber bullying.

Week 4, 19/3/2011, Healthy Relationships and Sex
Objective: To learn about the importance of sexual health and wellbeing including healthy and respectful relationships and contraception methods and choices.

Week 5, 26/3/2011, My Future, My Career
Objective: With the emphasis being on keeping youth in school, this Workshop is to inform them of opportunities that will be available as they progress through secondary school. Our aim is to encourage them to look ahead and know that through VET in Schools Programs and School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships there will be programs that will engage their interest and lead them into further exploration of career pathways.

Objective: To educate players on the Juvenile Criminal Justice System and provide them with a real life experience of being able to pick yourself up and learn from your mistakes.

Objective: To learn about respect and the importance of communication in a relationship. Also the responsibilities of young men and women around consent and pregnancies.

Week 4, 14/8/2010, Drugs and Alcohol
Objective: To be able to identify what is illegal, illicit and prescription drugs. The affects of drugs and the law around drugs.

Objective: To give participants background information on the the defense forces and how they help shape Australian culture.
