Term 4, 2011

Week 1, 22/10/2011, Code of Conduct
Objective: Players to have a good understanding of the Program (the workshop component, basketball, dinner and transport), the people involved (volunteers, tournament manager, youth worker) and to come up with their own rules / code of conduct to take ownership.

Week 2, 28/10/2011, Team Building
Objective: Players to learn how to work together and respect each other. The teams will chose a team name and design their team flag. Through this collaboration, the players will enhance their communication skills and build on being a supportive team.

Week 3, 4/11/2011, Red Dust Healing - Part 1
Objective: Players will learn the TREE concept, which outlines a visual map of the player which identifies their life and who they have around them that are good nutrients for their tree through providing support, encouragement and understanding.

Week 4, 11/11/2011, Red Dust Healing - Part 2
Objective: Players will learn the POUCH concept, which provides the players with a visual tool that helps them make good choices. POUCH stands for Problem, Options, Understanding, Choices and How you are going to deal with issues.

Week 5, 18/11/2011, Red Dust Healing - Part 3
Objective:  Provide players with the visual tools to address anger issues, grief and loss, along with strategies and tools to understand rejection and abuse.

Week 6, 25/11/2011, Drugs and Alcohol
Objective:  To provide players with information on the effects drugs and alcohol have on their lives and relationships.
Facilitator:  Natalie Willcock, Community Drug Action Team

Week 7, 2/12/2011, Youth Mental Health
Objective: Provide players with information and awareness of youth mental health issues and services available.
Facilitator:  Lauren Vaughen, Hunter New England Health

Week 8, 9/12/2011, Player Survey
Objective:  All players to complete survey provided by Midnight Basketball Australia for independent evaluation.
