Term 1, 2011

Week 1, 12/2/2011, Code of Conduct / Rules
Objective: Players to have a good understanding of the Program (the workshop component, basketball, dinner and transport), the people involved (volunteers, tournament manager, youth worker) and to come up with their own rules / code of conduct to take ownership.

Objective: Young people are given practical demonstrations regarding how tobacco smoke can effect their health and the community.

Objective:  Discussion of the objectives of advertising, awareness of strategies and its influence on decisions. Increase ability to make informed food and lifestyle choices.

Outline: Provide players with information regarding the nutrition value of natural and fast foods. Takeaway food - making healthier choices, awareness of fat and sugar content of takeaway foods, reading food labels - making a healthy choice.

Outline: Education sessions providing information as to communicable diseases and methods of prevention. Increase awareness and knowledge around HIV / Aids and inform of existence in our community.

Outline: Young people are briefed by professional basketball players on working towards goals. Provision of information sessions regarding decision making and consequences as a result.  Goal setting.
